929 Study groupS

929 English is dedicated to creating a global Jewish conversation around issues that unite and divide us, but always anchored in, based on, or inspired by the formative text of our common Jewish heritage, the Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible.

Did you know that we partner with study groups? That’s right! Several cities in the country and the world get together on a regular basis to learn and discuss Tanakh and to build strong relationships within our communities. It just so happens that we also enjoy doing this over coffee and food!

We are looking to expand our groups into more and more cities across the world. Which means, we need more people like you to take on the role of group facilitator!

Are you passionate about Tanakh and the formative text around it? Do you enjoy bringing people together for stimulating conversation and education? Are you also hungry?

Please reach out to us for more information on how to become a group facilitator. The more the merrier!

On completion of the Torah, we had a siyum (completions ceremony) to celebrate this accomplishment. We shared personal reflections and even played Torah jeopardy. We spoke about what this journey has meant to us, how this project has enhanced our lives, and our challenges with some of the themes in the Torah.

For me personally, Project 929 has sanctified our home and shabbat meals with Torah and meaningful conversation, leaving work and politics for the weekdays. As someone who grew up learning Tanach, this is the first time I am learning as an adult where I can take away my own lessons and conclusions with fresh eyes. It’s given me so much power over my own Judaism and Jewish expression. I am so happy to be sharing this experience with my own father in law in Chicago, as well as my mother in New Jersey. 929 has created bridges of connection to those I love near and far, and to all my fellow Jews who have committed to this world wide.
